This weekend Tauranga residents have been invited to a letter-writing marathon for human rights.
On Saturday Tauranga's Amnesty International Group would be joining other members worldwide in writing for the 'Write for Rights' campaign.
The public have been invited to join them to sign letters to the authorities of several countries whose citizens were experiencing human rights violations.
Postcards with messages of support would also be sent to the victims themselves to show them that they were not alone or forgotten.
This year Amnesty was focusing on nine countries: Indonesia, Australia, Egypt, USA, Azerbaijan, Peru, China, Iran and Malawi.
