At least half of dozen crashes have happened in the Bay of plenty today.

Three cars have collided on the corner of Moffat Rd and State Highway 2 at about 3.35pm.

Police have just arrived at the scene and it was not known if there were any injuries at this stage, a police communications spokesperson said.

The east bound lane into Tauranga was blocked for a short time, she said.

This is one of a spate of crashes in the Western Bay today.
