The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter has a busy day, rescuing two people back-to-back.

Earlier this afternoon the rescue helicopter was called to Waihi where a 53-year-old local woman had become unwell due to an existing medical condition.

The woman was stabilised by St John paramedics.

She was then flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

As the rescue helicopter started to return to Tauranga from Waikato the crew were tasked to Paeroa.

A 54-year-old Auckland man was suffering a serious cardiac event.

He was stabilised by a local doctor and St John staff before being flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
