A blockage of fat in the wastewater system caused a sewer overflow in Gate Pa, affecting the Kopurererua Stream.
In the early hours of this morning the overflow went into Tom Muir Reserve and Faulkner St where the stormwater pond enters the Kopurerua Stream.
Clean-up and blockage clearance was completed by Tauranga City Council this morning after the overflow was reporter.
Health warning signs were in place.
Run-off from heavy rain would also have affected the quality of stormwater ponds so water quality test results were not expected to be clear until June 30.
