Acting Sergeant Andy Anderson said a truck driver had been informed some of his load was spilling and had pulled over on the side of Cambridge Rd, near the intersection with SH29.

He has then climbed out of the truck and either suffered some sort of medical event or industrial accident, Mr Anderson said.

It remained unclear exactly what had happened to him.

The driver was out of the truck when emergency services arrived and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Tauranga Hospital.
