A motorcyclist who allegedly rode on the wrong side of a Tauranga highway while being pursued by police was eventually nabbed by a police dog.
Western Bay of Plenty head of road policing Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said police initially signalled for the motorcyclist to stop but he failed to do so, prompting the pursuit on Takitimu Expressway.
Mr Campion said the motorcyclist lead police on the pursuit, at one stage on the wrong side of the expressway.
The motorcyclist then got off at the Cambridge Rd exit and ditched the bike, fleeing on foot, Mr Campion said.
A police dog was used to track the man, who was allegedly found a short distance away and arrested.
