Wet weather hung over a group of keen local students in their attempts to climb the Mount continuously to raise funds and awareness for the 40 Hour Famine.
A total of 18 trips to the summit were made today between a group of Year 9 Otumoetai College students before persistent rain halted their efforts to climb the Mount for eight hours.
Caitlin Knox and Makayla Torrey organised their Social Studies class to participate in this year's 40 Hour Famine, where funds go towards helping 8 million malnourished children and their families in Bangladesh.
"It was really cold and really wet cause it was raining the whole time." said Caitlin.
Caitlin said she had sore ankles and calf muscles after trekking up and down the Mount in the rain three times, but was happy to be warm and dry at home.
