Tauranga shop owner robbed at knifepoint

11.02am: The owner of the Mags, Cards and Lotto shop says he was robbed by a man with a knife this morning.

Talking to the Bay of Plenty Times, the owner of three years said the man took his till and made him empty the safe.

10.39am: The owner of the Mags, Cards and Lotto shop ran into the neighbouring St Vincent de Paul this morning and said "I've been robbed", a witness told the Bay of Plenty Times.

"He rushed in and said 'I've been robbed!'".

A police spokesperson said a Cameron Rd dairy was robbed shortly before 10am.

An officer at the scene confirmed to a Bay of Plenty Times reporter it was the Mags, Cards and Lotto shop between 16th and 17th Ave.


10.01am: Police are swarming Tauranga this morning looking for an offender after a Cameron Rd dairy was robbed.

A number of police are in the 16th and 17th Ave area looking for the offender.

A police spokesperson said the robbed dairy had been secured and the public were not allowed near.

Police are parked outside the Mags, Cards and Lotto shop.
