A Tauranga garden centre has won a national supreme garden centre award for the second time.

Palmers Tauranga also won the Nursery and Garden Industry Association New Zealand (NGINZ) award two years ago.

Palmers Tauranga manager Peter Wayman said the win was credit to the entire team.

"Winning the Garden Retail Award, garden centre format, is an acknowledgement of the commitment made by our entire team," he said.

"To win it twice shows that we really must be doing something right. And what a bonus to win when our industry peers are holding the awards ceremony on our home turf."

The association chief executive, John Liddle, said the award reflected the team's commitment.

"Hats off to Peter and his team on a well-deserved win yet again.

"Winning the supreme award reflects Palmers commitment to customer service, quality plants and other products."

Tauranga man Hamish McLean was an NGINZ Young Achiever Finalist.

"I am so grateful for the incredible industry support I have been given - so freely. This has been a great experience for me," Mr McLean said.
