The Tauranga Eastern Link is halfway complete with major works at Paengaroa and Maketu underway.
The $455 million New Zealand Transport Agency project is the largest in the Bay of Plenty and is expected to be completed by late 2015.
Drivers can expect activity around Mangatawa and Domain Road at Papamoa.
Other work expected in the near future includes a roundabout at Paengaroa, two overpasses at Parton Road and Maketu Road. About 23km of four-lane road pavement will be laid and landscaping, lighting and barriers will be installed.
Work to build the highway began in December 2010.
The original completion date for the project was mid-2016.
