Police are currently at Pilot Bay where a body has been found.

Police Northern Communications shift manager Inspector Andy Brill said member of the public phoned about 10.40am to report seeing a body on Pilot Bay.

The body is that of an 81-year-old Tauranga man.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious and it was being referred to the coroner.

The man's identity will not be released until his next of kin have been notified.
