Finding poppy sellers gets harder each year, but the Tauranga RSA was full of praise for the 75 volunteers out on city streets.
Manager Mr Brian Stringer offered "heart-felt thanks" to all the sellers.
"Our members are getting older and finding people who are able to get out on the streets gets harder each year," he said. "Those who volunteered this year really deserve a big thank-you." Mr Stringer said the 75 sellers would distribute 20,000 poppies.
"The volunteers really work hard going around all the businesses and schools in Tauranga or just sitting on a street corner," he said. "And all proceeds go towards our welfare work."
Poppy seller Claire Acott said she was very busy in the city early today.
