The folk music hoedown of the year is happening this weekend when Albi & the Wolves perform at Mount Maunganui.
The band is unusual in that it is a string band using only voices, acoustic guitar, double bass and violin. According to Karin Vincent of The Rogue Stage, this band is all about the joy of music.
"You want to dance, you want to sing and you just want to engage when you hear them play. The energy that comes off them - their sincerity is incredible," she says.
The band brings acoustic folk bang up to date, infusing country elements, soul, indie-rock and pop with energy-fuelled performances.
Frontman and proud albino Chris George Dent is joined by electric fiddle player Pascal Roggen, and Micheal Young on double bass. Together they reinvigorate folk music for today's landscape.
