Work created by some of this country's finest artists will be exhibited at Otumoetai College this month.
Art created by artists such as Dick Frizzell, Philip Clairmont, Peter Madden, Philip Trusttum, in a range of mediums including collage, paintings, digital photography and drawings are on show and members of the public are invited to see the works.
Fifteen artworks have been loaned to the college through the James Wallace Arts Trust institutional loans programme that is a part of a wider educational programme that seeks to expose contemporary New Zealand artworks to a larger audience.
Usually the loan programme operates with Auckland schools only.
However, head of Otumoetai College's visual art department Sarah-Jane Smith approached the trust after reading about it online and after initial discussion with principal Dave Randall and the trust, the college will host the first loan exhibition outside of Auckland. She says not all students have the opportunity to visit an art gallery or would choose to go to one.
