New Zealand Davis Cup representative Artem Sitak is into the third round of the Australian Open men's doubles.
Sitak and German partner Benjamin Becker have progressed after one of their opponents retired with injury less than 10 minutes into the second-round match.
It was a convenient outcome for Becker, who finished a three-hour marathon with Lleyton Hewitt after 11pm on Thursday.
Sitak follows in the footsteps of New Zealand No1 Michael Venus, who reached the third round at the Australian and US Opens last year.
The result means Sitak and Becker are guaranteed to share at least A$39,000 ($41,500) in prize money.
