A small earthquake south east of Auckland has lightly shaken residents this morning.
GeoNet says that at 9.02am this morning a magnitude 2.7 earthquake occurred just east of Motutapu Island at a depth of 4 km.
Gillian McKenzie, posted on the Auckland Civil Defence and Emergency Management Facebook page that she felt it in Taka and that the building she was in 'rumbled a little'.
As of 10am, around 45 people reported feeling the earthquake on the GeoNet website.
