There are fears local services could be sacrificed to fast-track the City Rail Link in the Auckland Council ten-year plan.
Mayor Len Brown is seeking to cover the cost of starting the project earlier than the Government has proposed.
Julia Parfitt from Hibiscus and Bays Local Board says if it comes at the cost of local budgets, it will be sorely felt in many communities.
She says people in her area have significant rate bills, don't get proportionate spending, and want to see some of that money returned to their community.
Parfitt says people need to speak out, to get their community a fair share of the spending pie.
