Freedom Furniture to open Albany store

Freedom Furniture will open its new Albany store on Thursday, creating up to 30 jobs and creating more work for the New Zealand upholstery industry, its chief executive says.

The furniture chain had invested $1.5 million on the 2752 square-metre store, touted as the "first full concept store Freedom has opened in 10 years", the group's Australian-based chief executive Geoff McIntosh said.

"Despite the current economic climate, we are investing a significant amount of time and resources to ensure Freedom's brand success in New Zealand," he said.

The store, in the Albany Gateway Centre, is Freedom's 10th store in New Zealand.
