The 89th Makirikiri Sports Day
The 89th Makirikiri Sports Day attracted 250 entrants in the show jumping event from as far afield as Gisborne at Horrocks Park on Saturday. Also featured was the annual wood chopping event, organised by the Wanganui Axemen's Association. Makirikiri Sports Club president Dave Allison said the day was marvellous and everyone had had a great time. The picnic hampers were out in abundance along with serious sunhats and sunscreen lotions, he said. ``It was extremely hot but a great, great day.''
