When the Wanganui women's and men's hockey teams got off the bus in the Hawkes Bay on Sunday, they probably wanted to just jump straight back on.
A shooting rampage in the final 15 minutes saw the women's representative team go down 5-0.
Still, being competitive for more than three-quarters of the game would have been a dream for the men's side, who, when faced with Hawkes Bays' fresh legs, were humbled 12-0.
Playing for a chance to make the top two teams of the Central Hockey League leading into this weekend's finals, the Wanganui women only discovered that morning they were facing a different Hawkes Bay team that played at Gonville Domain on April 14.
Namely, warming up amongst the new faces, was Black Stick Emily Naylor.
