The Whanganui Model Railway and Engineering Society attraction attention from young and old at an open day held at their Gonville clubrooms.
Club president Paul Mallet said visitors like 6-year-old Lucas Wright enjoyed the displays and club members were proud to share their models with the public.
The membership has an extensive array of vintage model trains from the 1940s and 50s and after a pre-Christmas open day proved popular, the club has decided to hold them more often.
"Since we have had such good turnouts, I think we should publicise it more because it is great to see how much people enjoy it," said Mallet.
