A little boy in Christchurch may never get to Wanganui but he and his family will surely remember the generosity of our community.
Nine-year-old Charlie McLaren has cerebral palsy and a fundraising campaign is well on the way to getting the $100,000 needed to give Charlie some life-changing surgery only available in the US.
Part of that fundraising campaign is being headed by six cycle-riding Christchurch Police staff, flying the flag of the "racket riders", and yesterday they left Wanganui after overnighting in the city as part of their 750km ride from New Plymouth to Christchurch.
They started riding on Monday and will finish in Lincoln next Tuesday.
Christchurch Senior Sergeant Matt Emery organised the fundraising ride and said he was well aware of Charlie's plight.
