Next year the organisers of Whanganui Vintage Weekend would like more market stalls and children's entertainment, and the steam train is also planning to return.
Discussions around the next weekend are also focussing on a theme to mark the 100th anniversary of World War I.
Good planning and the weather guaranteed success for the three-day event over anniversary weekend, a Whanganui Vintage Weekend Trust spokesperson said.
The visitor numbers to the events were also an indication that people were out to enjoy themselves.
More than 5000 visited the Rivercity Caboodle on the Saturday, and later, 300-plus enjoyed The Johnny's and Sal Valentine, while 200 watched the outdoor screening of the 1940's screwball comedy His Girl Friday.
