THE TREATMENT
Let’s face it, we all have problem areas. Try as we might to run, lift, swim and burpee our way to lithe, elongated limbs or a muffin-top-free-torso, many of us are plagued by stubborn fat pockets that seem impossible to shift.
Prescription Skin Care’s CoolSculpting procedure aims to change all that. This non-surgical, fat reduction treatment has been building in popularity since the clinic was the first to bring it to New Zealand in 2013.
Developed by Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard University, CoolSculpting hangs its hat on the scientific finding that subcutaneous fat cells are likely to diminish and die when frozen at certain temperatures. Since its inception, more than seven million treatments have been carried out globally, and is the most popular type of fat freezing treatment in the world. CoolSculpting is the only fat freezing treatment that has the seal of approval for safety and efficacy by both the FDA and TGA.
Areas that can be treated with CoolSculpting are under the chin, bra fat, back fat, abdomen, flanks, thighs, bra bulge, as well as underneath the buttock (also known as the banana roll). No needles or anaesthetic are used, and there’s no downtime required meaning you can head straight back to work afterwards. The treatment uses an applicator that is put onto the skin, which then sucks the skin and fat underneath into it. Then the machine will cool the area for 35 minutes. After this time the nurse will take the applicator off and massage the area for a few minutes. You can then go about your day as usual.
The CoolSculpting procedure works by delivering controlled cooling to gentry and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. The treated fat cells are crystallised (frozen) then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you. The reduction in fat cells is permanent. Once treated, the fat cells are gone for good. With a healthy life style and sensible eating you will not put on more weight.
The nurses that look after you at Prescription Skin Care are all qualified and registered New Zealand plastic surgery nurses. They understand how to make you feel comfortable and perform excellent treatments. These nurses have been trained in New Zealand by Plastic Surgeon Stephen Gilbert, who runs the medical team, as well as by the manufacturers of CoolSculpting in San Francisco. Performing a CoolSculpting treatment is not just about having an excellent and safe machine. It is about having highly trained nurses who know where to treat on your body and how to get the best sculpted look for you.
The team work in association with the New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons. The quality of your care and delivering outstanding results is of most importance to them.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to CoolSculpting, the treatment is tailored to suit the needs of both men and women. The average age range for men requesting the treatment spans from 35 -70, with women skewing slightly younger from their 20s to 70s.
Whether it’s a small pocket of fat you’d like to shift, or a larger region to diminish, the treatment works on double chins or large fatty deposits around the neck area, inner and outer thighs, arms, abdomen and back. Chin sculpting helps to help redefine the contour of your profile, creating a cleaner line. Men tend to focus on removing stubborn fat from their waistlines, to give better definition to the midsection. CoolSculpting has proved to be a common treatment for mums, who may be concerned with reducing their overall body fat percentage after giving birth.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE
Unlike plastic surgery, there’s no downtime, needles or anaesthetic.
The Prescription Skin Care team recommend a 45-minute consultation beforehand to discuss areas to be treated, to advise what an achievable result is, and what you can expect on the day.
It’s advised to wear comfortable clothes on the day of your procedure, as you’ll be sitting or lying for a minimum of 30 minutes while the machine does its thing. A nurse will apply a CoolSculpt applicator attached to the machine to the area to be treated, where you’ll feel a suction motion then cooling sensation for a few minutes. From here, you can relax for the next half hour before the applicators are removed and the area is massaged for three minutes.
Multiple areas can be treated at the same time, with many patients staying for the day to have their entire body sculpted. The team provides a snack and lunch, as well as a private nurse to take care of them throughout the day.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED

Others many want to treat more than one area. In this instance, we offer a package of treatments that can be taken on the one day, or a time to suit the patient. The number of treatments required is entirely dependent on the individual and their body goal.

HOW MUCH IS IT
The price is discussed during the free consultation, and is cheaper than you think. Payment plans and packages are available upon request.
