Inaction totally wrong
I totally support your editorial 'Council must try harder' (November 8) regarding holding those responsible for trashing our beautiful Far North, especially when the council has evidence.
To say it costs too much to prosecute, is totally wrong, because if folk are not held responsible, and there are no consequences for their actions, how is the council supposed to control this?
It is hard to come forward and report incidences of dumping when there is no outcome plus the likelihood of your name being mentioned, which is what happens.
This produces venom in communities, and it is amplified when the council won't prosecute.
For the amount of rates that we are charged for a lifestyle piece of land with blow all capital value, no rubbish collection, no lighting, there is little value for us from the council.
We shouldn't have to accept that our roadways, beaches etc are rubbish dumps for the irresponsible few, leaving it up to the responsible to pick up other people's crap.
As for dog control, it is pathetic.
Peter, you said it well.
