Georgina Campbell, Senior Multimedia Journalist at New Zealand’s Herald, still gets an adrenalin rush from a good scoop and is at her best finding the story behind a headline.

I’m Georgina Campbell and I have worked as a journalist since 2015. After graduating from Canterbury University, I landed my first job at The Press newspaper. I then moved to Newstalk ZB in Wellington, my hometown, before joining the Herald. During my career I’ve covered the 2017 campaign trail, Prince Harry and Meghan’s royal visit, and the Port Hills fires. The piece of work I am most proud of is a podcast I made called Speaking Secrets, which tells the story of the global #MeToo movement in New Zealand through the eyes of survivors of sexual harassment and abuse. I subsequently won the Bill Toft Award allowing me to travel to Australia and meet Hedley Thomas, a journalistic inspiration to me, who made the Teacher’s Pet podcast. Currently I have a particular interest in local government, transport, water infrastructure, and seismic issues. I still get an adrenalin rush from a good scoop and am at my best finding the story behind a headline.
