A woman was kidnapped and sexually attacked after her boyfriend was dragged out of the car they were sleeping in and beaten by a group of men.
The woman and her boyfriend were asleep in the car on the corner of Caspar Rd and Great South Rd in Papatoetoe when they were attacked about 5 am on Sunday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Bernie Hollewand of the Counties Manukau crime squad said three men approached the car and dragged the boyfriend out. They beat him, stole his wallet, watch, and shoes, and then stole his car with the girlfriend still in it.
She was indecently assaulted as the car was driven to Papatoetoe East Primary School where she was dragged out and indecently assaulted again.
Neighbours alerted by her screams came to her rescue. The men escaped in their own car which had followed behind.
Detective Senior Sergeant Hollewand said there were at least three men involved in the attack and possibly a fourth in the following car. The car was described as a white or light blue hatch-back like a Toyota Corolla.
He said the victims described their attackers as Polynesian who spoke what they believed was Tongan during the attack.
