A 58-year-old man believed to be from New Zealand has died after the caravan he was in exploded and caught fire on Queensland's Sunshine Coast last night.
Emergency crews were called to Hamer Dr, Urangan, just after 6pm local time when neighbours saw the van, at the rear of a home, on fire.
The explosion tore the roof off the caravan.
By the time the fire crews arrived, it was too late to save the man who was alone inside.
"We've got one man deceased as the result of an unknown explosion that has resulted in a fire in the caravan," said Queensland Fire and Rescue Service area commander Craig Lovell.
Police are expected to start a full forensic investigation this morning but have said initial investigations suggest the fire was non-suspicious.
A police spokesman said this morning formal identification procedures were still to be performed.
