New principal for Wanganui Collegiate

Wanganui Collegiate School's new headmaster has been announced.

Wayne Brown will begin at the school in early 2018.

Mr Brown is currently the associate deputy headmaster and director of staff performance at the Hutchins School in Australia.

He is a qualified professional development coach for teachers. He is also an elite sports coach, having previously been assistant with the New Zealand Breakers.

Mr Brown has taught at Palmerston North Boys' High School and King's High School in Dunedin.

He said he was "honoured" to be headmaster at Wanganui Collegiate School.

"I look forward to bringing my experience to maintaining and developing a highly engaged learning community where all staff and students can flourish."

Mr Brown's wife is also a teacher and originally from Whanganui. They and their two children will be moving to Whanganui at Christmas.

Mr Brown will replace Chris Moller, who left earlier this year. Ross Brown is currently acting headmaster.
