As Prime Minister Bill English announced that New Zealand goes to the polls on September 23, the National Party said its search for a Whanganui electorate candidate begins in earnest.
Neil Walker, who has taken over as acting electorate chair from Ella Borrows, said nominations would open on February 13 and close on February 28.
Sitting MP Chester Borrows is not seeking re-election.
Mr Walker said pre-selection would take place on March 11 followed by a final selection meeting, to be held in Whanganui, on March 26.
"That's when we will know who is to stand for National in the Whanganui Electorate," Mr Walker said.
