Pet day at Kai Iwi School was a fun affair yesterday with lambs and calves being the most popular pets on show.
Ana Pearce took out the champion award with her 6-week-old pet lamb Charlie.
Mum Tina Chambers said Charlie is a Dorset Down-Romney cross lamb that was given to Ana by neighbours Stuart and Janey Ford.
Lexie McDougal with her lamb Stanley was named reserve champion and Angus Jenkins came first in the calf category.
There was a miniature horse as well as hens and chickens but the most unusual pet was Leo Jones' blue tongued lizard Rex, which won the most creative section.
As well as pets, there was an array of colourful scarecrows lined up in the school grounds and Leo said he was proud that his group gained second place for their effort.
