On September 7, 2016, the Chronicle reported an allegation made in a televised broadcast that a worker at AFFCO's Imlay plant had asked for safety glasses but had been refused them.

This is an allegation only and is strongly refuted by AFFCO. AFFCO denies that allegation, and says that it has no record of having refused any such request.

The paper did not intend to convey the impression that the allegation was a matter of fact and apologises if it gave that impression.
