The Splash Centre is offering a new water safety course for adults - for free.
But you will have to be quick, as the course is limited to 20 people.
The idea was dreamed up by Wanganui man Jamie Doble, who said he and his family had spent a lot of time at the beach over the summer. It was during one of these trips to the beach that he realised he didn't have the skills to help someone who was drowning.
"I know how to do CPR and the medical side of things, but it was the water safety - getting someone safely out of the water - that I didn't know."
Mr Doble contacted his friend Dave Campbell, who is the manager of the Splash Centre, to ask about water safety courses.
