Terrier racing was the feature of the day at the Nga Tawa Diocesan School fete in Marton yesterday.
The fete was a fundraiser event towards the building of a full-sized hockey water turf development and new netball and tennis courts.
The little dogs were divided into Jack Russells, fox terriers and other terrier breeds competing in heats and finals, with the overall winner presented with the Kelso cup.
Fox terrier Raticus was the final winner in his category, receiving a large bag of Tux dog food and her owner Anita Weber received a $25 voucher from Southern Rangitikei Vet Services.
The two-year-old was closely followed by Tilly, owned by Bernard Lilburn while other starters failed to make the finish line.
