There's something about March 16, 2010 that brings three children together.
Fleur Booth, Khalid Mason and Kit Oliver were the first three 5-year-olds over the line for their age category in the first of the Breadcraft Kids Triathlon series 2016 last Monday at Wairarapa College.
The three were also bornon the same date five years ago.
Khalid was first home in the race, beating second-equal Fleur and Kit by 16 seconds.
Khalid's mother Sara said the three had been in Hadlow preschool together but had gone to separate schools after that.
Despite the shared birthdays, they have never had a joint party.
"We just thought it was a funny coincidence, first, second and third with the same birthdate."
At yesterday's triathlon -- the second in the series -- the two boys were keen for another go. However, Fleur was less enthusiastic with a "no" when asked if she enjoyed triathlons.
