A Pahiatua man Tasered earlier in the week is due to reappear in the Palmerston North District Court today.
Sergeant Jymahl Glassey of Pahiatua said four police officers and a police dog went to the property of Peter Randal Papa, 28, a shearer, on Monday night to execute a search warrant.
They initially could not find him, Mr Glassey said, until he was heard by one of the officers and found hiding up a tree. "He came down when he was asked to but then he got confrontational with an officer who was trying to arrest him," Mr Glassey said.
Mr Papa went back inside his house, Mr Glassey said, where he was met by another police officer who had entered the house through another door.
After being warned, the officer had to use a Taser to subdue him, he said, before Papa was arrested and charged with assault.
