Fortunately, most long weekend events won't be affected by the weather, with many of the activities planned around the region being held indoors.
This weekend is one of the last opportunities to check out the Vintage Aviator Collection at Hood Aerodrome, before it shuts for winter at the end of the month.
The collection houses 15 World War I aircraft and several from World War II, including the impressively mean-looking P-40 Kittyhawk.
Also notable is a German Fokker Dr.1 Triplane (a.k.a the Red Baron), an original Bristol F2.B Fighter and, for fans of Biggles, a Sopwith Camel. Tally-ho!
The Masterton Town Hall will be home to an eclectic bunch of "artisans, foodies and creative types" on Saturday, when it hosts the New Rags Market Day.
Handcrafted and second hand retro items will abound, while brand items are strictly forbidden. It will also be host to fine food and coffee - all fresh and local, of course.
In terms of music, Reload Martinborough will be partying to the sounds of musician Greg Christiansen on Saturday night. And out on the coast, the band Twisted is performing the same night at the Whakataki Hotel near Castlepoint.
In case the weather does take a turn for the better and for those who love grapes, Fantail Grove in Greytown will host a "pick your own grapes weekend".
Fruit lovers are handed buckets, secateurs and bags, and will be let loose on the orchard's vines to pick as many grapes as they please.
