Mr Webb is leaving to work at a Berry St School to be established in Shepparton, near Melbourne, and said he jumped at the chance to help kids who have trouble with school.
The school would be similar to Ohorere School, which is an educational system he enjoys working within.
"This is exciting, to be on the ground floor of something new, as it was when I restarted Ohorere," he said.
"It's just sad that here they are closing places like Ohorere while in Australia they recognise the value of such places and are even opening new ones.
"I feel the same sort of excitement as I did with Ohorere, except this is a new community."
Mr Webb flew over for an interview last year, and received news he was successful on Christmas Eve. He is due to move over with his partner Judi at the end of January.
Mr Webb started his teaching career at Waikanae Primary School about 30 years ago and quickly moved into alternative education. After a stint in Australia, he moved back to this country as the Resource Teachers of Learning and Behavioural (RTLB) programme was taking off.
"I believe the RTLB concept was the best educational concept I've come across in all my years," he said.
Mr Webb continued teaching, then took time off to establish the Lounge Wine and Tapas Bar in Carterton with his partner, before taking up residence at Ohorere School.
"I've got a bit of time to go before I retire, and I do feel I need one more adventure," he said.
Mr Webb said he will miss Wairarapa, especially Carterton.
