Her image has already appeared on a plane and now a train dedicated to Japan's most famous feline has taken to the tracks in Taiwan.

On Monday, Taiwan unveiled its Hello Kitty-themed Taroko Express, which leaves from Shulin train station and travels to Taitung on the east coast route.

The unique train is a partnership between the Taiwan Railways Administration, Sanrio and EVA Air - who debuted its Hello Kitty Shining Star jet last year.

The eight carriages of the train each have a different Hello Kitty design and the seatbacks and serving carts also feature the cartoon character.
