It's the traveller's curse to be constantly falling over exciting purchases overseas that you know will never fit into the already bulging suitcase. However, help is at hand.

The Florian folding travel bag is quite the largest of its kind to cross my desk in recent years and should suit even the most avid shopper.

It won't take the 1m-high stone Buddha admired two hours before boarding time but there's room for just about anything else.

New Zealand-made in waterproof cotton and leather, the bag folds up into compact handbag size which is easily carried or packed. When opened its dimensions are a whopping 53x29x23cms and it has a zip closure.

The oilskin gives it a tough, outdoorsy look, which didn't appeal to the female shopaholic I asked to try it out, and she also thought the shape was a bit clumsy.

I'm no shopaholic so there'd be no point me taking the bag on a trip but when it was loaded up with a selection of goodies at home it seemed to me to be easy enough to carry and it's certainly roomy.
