The Taranaki Garden & Rhododendron Festival features over 50 gardens, including one of international significance. Special gardens range from a Japanese tea house to organic vege gardens. Support events include speakers, a jazz and wine series, markets and exhibitions. It runs october 30 to november 8.

The Auckland Art Gallery's school holiday programme is inspired by the free exhibition Rita Angus: Life & Vision. The two-hour workshops start at 10am and cost $12.
