The hit musical about his group is hitting town in April, and American pop veteran and falsetto king Franki Valli is also heading over to perform in Auckland.

Jersey Boys, the acclaimed stage show based on the life and music of Valli and The Four Seasons starts a season at the Civic Theatre from April 10.

But the real Valli, 77, and his current Four Seasons backing band will be getting in earlier - they play at Vector Arena on April 5, complete with a set-list from their long list of hits which include Sherry, Let's Hang On, Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye), Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Grease, December 1963 (Oh, What a Night).

"A lot of people think we came out of retirement," Valli told TimeOut about touring in the wake of the Jersey Boys phenomenon, "but we've always worked all over the [US]. Jersey Boys has certainly been a major help."

Tickets go on sale on November 7.
