The end is nigh on Shortland Street.
No, the soap's not going anywhere, but after the most drawn-out storyline in the 15-year history of the street, Joey Henderson, aka the Ferndale Strangler, is finally going to be put to rest.
After seven months and five victims, producers have announced a special three-episode finale for the plot, beginning on Monday, March 3.
Promising a "shocking, nail-biting climax," the story is sure to have fans glued to the set as Joey closes in on his "ideal patient".
But that's no reason to tune out once the story is done and dusted.
As the show approaches its 4000th episode in June, a special guest is set to appear, along with some other big surprises.
Publicist Rachel Keereweer said there was lots in store for viewers in coming months and things would be lightening up, with writers focusing on romance and comedy.
