The ban on tweeting during a press conference held by the State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie has been lifted, according to tweets from reporters at the press conference.

The advisory for the press conference had declared social networking would not be permitted as the conference is a "Twitter-free zone".

The Commission's media manager told reporters they would be banned from attending if they do.

She said the conference was about a detailed employment matter and journalists had to pay attention.
