Up to 700 runners and walkers are expected to pound Stratford's pavements on Sunday, October 30, says Albie Jane of the Stratford Runners and Walkers Club.
Beginning and ending at the Stratford War Memorial Hall, this year's course includes three distances of 3km, 5km and 10km to suit all levels of fitness.
For the more serious runners there is a trophy up for grabs for the first 10km male and female over the finish line.
This annual event has been running for 34 years and Albie says it is a great event to get involved in, with over $2000 worth of spot prizes to be won.
All school students who participate also go in a draw to win $50, plus $200 for their school.
The club is very proud of the quality of spot prizes on offer, all of which have been supplied by local retailers, including major sponsor, Mackays Unichem Pharmacy.
The course will be run through streets in the north/west area of town as well as through the Rhododendron Dell. There will be marshals at all intersections.
The Nexans Fun Run/Walk, hosted by the Runners & Walkers Club, is the second of nine Nexans events in the series. Participating in six of the events puts entrants in the major draw at the last event in Eltham. Enter seven events and receive three chances, enter eight and receive five chances, and enter all nine events and receive seven chances to win.
Albie says the fun run/walk events are always a great day out and he encourages everyone to come along and give it a go.
