Eltham Lions and students from years 4, 5 and 6 at Eltham Primary got creative with toys and cement last Thursday, giving the town's toy wall a facelift.
The wall originated in the 1970s when Fay Young started decorating her boundary wall with toys left by children. Community members donatedtoys to the collection and the wall is now a popular visitors' destination, says Eltham Lions secretary Joyce Lawrence.
The wall tells a story of the toys children have played with over the decades. Some toys disappeared and others were broken off, which is why they are giving the wall a spruce-up, says Joyce.
The new toys were donated by the community. The Lions now owns the property, renting out the house.
