Stratford High School's junior achievers were last week applauded for their hard work at the school's junior prizegiving.
Kody Simpson was named the top Year 10 academic student, while the honours in Year 9 went to Matthew Anderson. The Terry Chadwick Memorial Trophy for best all-round student (junior) this year was shared, by Kody with Holly Mackie.
Holly has been in Stage Challenge, helped with the Shakespeare Festival, served on the student council, was involved in Relay for Life, and participated in a variety of sports, including table tennis, rogaine, netball, badminton, small-bore rifle shooting and indoor rowing and she was in the national cross-country team. Outside of school she is involved in dance. On top of this she has entered the ICAS science competition and she has maintained an average of 94 per cent for her graduation report.
Kody has been on the student council, gained a short story high distinction and has maintained an average of 97 per cent for his graduation report. He also participates, captains, organises or referees in a huge variety of sporting events. Outside school he has been involved in scouts, ATC, sailing and the Duke of Edinburgh award programme.
Kody also received the Physical Education Trophy General Proficiency (boys), 10D Young Writers Award and 10D Public Speaking and shared the SHS Young Writers Trophy Year 10 with Beth West.
