Review: Russell Baillie
A well-upholstered mix of sofa-friendly electronica, this Australian compilation is elegantly Eurocentric.
A distinctively Gallic flavour dominates, with the inclusion of recent tourist St Germain's infectious jazz-shimmer Rose Rouge, Alex Gopher's Billie Holiday-sampling The Child and Etienne De Crecy's designer funk Scratched.
Add to that an Austrian or two (Tosca's Orozco), a German who thinks he's Brazilian (Ian Pooley's What's Your Number), some token Americans (Thievery Corporation's Lebanese Blonde) and some groovy Brits (Underworld's Cups, Kinobe's Skyscraper, and Rae and Christian's Swan Song) and the result is quite spiffing.
A cohesive downbeat compilation, with purpose and style in equal measure.
