Boxing: Joseph Parker needs a nickname

Boxing has punched out some of the finest nicknames-"Smokin" Joe Frazier, James "Bonecrusher" Smith or Thomas "Hitman" Hearns -and some shockers.

There was Scott "The Pink Cat" Walker and Tony "The Punching Postman" Thornton to send us to the canvas and at least a TKO when someone came out with Juan "The Hispanic causing Panic" Lazcano banner.

We know who carry The Greatest, the Brown Bomber and Marvelous monikers without having to connect them to Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis and Marvin Hagler.

What about a label for Joseph Parker, the heavyweight who is on the verge of a world shot if he gets past Carlos Takam this weekend.

Let's have Joseph "Sweet Science" Parker, Joseph "Iceman" Parker or Joseph "Sheriff" Parker.

Or is there more box office appeal in headlining Joseph Parker with an accompanying description like "traditional medicine" or "classic Jurassic" as one of NZME's heavyweights favours.
