A jockey has learned a valuable lesson to check how many laps there are in each race after prematurely celebrating a race win a lap too early.
Gerardo Corrales took Ender's Cat into the lead on the home stretch of the first lap during a race at Florida's Gulfstream Park, thinking he had started 2016 with a win.
However as Corrales pulled to the middle of the track to celebrate the win, the rest of the field began to move past on the inside, still racing.
"I don't think the rider really knows they are going around again," the race commentator said.
Corrales then realised his mistake and re-joined the field but Ender's Cat, an 80-1 outsider, was spent and faded in the final lap to finish in last place.
